Team Sensus

Bee Richardson is an in-demand Massage Therapist with a diverse clientele of professional athletes and business leaders in Dallas, Texas.  Unable to accommodate all clients all the time, she has always been on the lookout for devices that can assist her clients with self care until a client can be seen.  When Bee was post-partum with her third child and could not herself get down on the floor to foam roll some painful trigger points, the light went on.

"A system to provide the benefit of foam rolling for the less agile among us would be greatness."

Bee was introduced to Douglas Davis by a mutual friend because of his product development background.  Douglas has a long career creating software and hardware products, with the last 10 years managing product development, manufacturing, as well as regulatory oversight, quality assurance, and intellectual property management for medical device manufacturers.

Douglas did a bit of research and determined foam rolling was ubiquitous, but low tech.  With some trial and error, Douglas landed on a design on which Restore is based. Sensus Holistic Technologies, LLC was formed to commercialize it.  He retained Flex Partners, Inc. a deeply skilled technology development group to refine the design and develop more advanced features.  Along the way he recruited Dr. Matt Pennell, doctor of chiropractic medicine with years of experience treating a diverse client base, as advisors to the team, making certain Restore is optimized for use by their clientele and their treatment protocols.  Chad Windham, a marathoner with extensive experience in marketing and visual production was brought on board to lead content creation.

Leveraging his experience, Douglas has created a product portfolio and roadmap that includes several key innovations and strategies for Restore:

  • A software app to guide the user in the optimal use of Restore for a given soreness, including locating the appropriate trigger point on the body to massage, as well as guidance on the massage accessory and configuration, amount of pressure, and duration of pressure application for relief.

  • Integration of sensors and wireless communication between Restore and the app to provide the user with real time feedback and historical use

  • “Open Sourcing” the platform so that other manufacturers of massage devices can adopt the Restore platform for their devices, expanding the community of device makers for the benefit of the user community.

Knobbe Martin is counsel for intellectual property and has filed an extensive patent that covers all aspects of the methods and systems of Restore.  An initial patent was allowed for Restore in June of 2022.  The pursuit of additional claims for the system are in process.

Douglas will be responsible for company operations and customer satisfaction.
